A Message from Fr. Chris

As was announced at the Masses this past weekend, I have been reassigned to be guardian of the friar’s retirement house in Butler, NJ, as well as assist with Hispanic ministry in the area. I will be leaving on September 3rd.

As I prepare to leave, I want to take this opportunity to thank three groups of people. I would first like to thank all of the parishioners and members of the community who have been so supportive of me these past six years. I have been strengthened by your prayers and your witness. I would like to especially thank all of the students at Immaculata whose joy and faith have been so life-giving.

I would next like to thank our incredible parish staff. Their hard work serving this parish has inspired me to attempt to match their dedication. I would also like to thank the folks at the Emily K Center who have been a pleasure to collaborate with.

Finally, I would like to thank all of the friars who have worked alongside me these past six years: Fr. Bill McIntyre, OFM, Fr. Charley Miller, OFM, Fr. Bill McConville, OFM, Fr. Casey Cole, OFM, Fr. Mario Gomez, OFM and Fr. Hugh Macsherry, OFM. Their fraternal care for me is something that I will never forget.

I am sure that you will give the incoming pastor, Fr. Jacek Orzechowski, OFM, as well as the two new parochial vicars, Fr. Gonzalo Torres, OFM and Fr. Salim Joseph, OFM, a warm welcome and continuing support, along with Fr. Hugh who is staying at IC. In this time of transition we know that Christ walks alongside all of us. May God continue to bless everyone at Immaculate Conception Church and Immaculata Catholic School.

Last weekend, and as Fr. Chris announced above, we learned with great sadness that he has been reassigned and will be leaving IC on September 3rd. His last homily will be at the daily Mass* on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 9:30 am. Join us in person or online.
*
Please note, this is also the school Mass, therefore the YouTube chat will be disabled, if you wish to comment during the Mass, you may watch on FB live.

Please join us in thanking Fr. Chris for his service to our parish and the Durham Community,  and may receive God's blessings as he begins this new journey.

You may leave a message, picture and/or video for Fr. Chris here
