IC SEASONAL GIVING
Immaculate Conception offers numerous social justice and direct service/charitable programs to help those in need during the holiday season. We are extremely grateful to all the ministries, staff members, and parishioners who come together during this time to help organize these events, especially in stewardship, youth ministry, and organizations like the Knights of Columbus.
I update this page based on the information shared in our parish e-newsletters as a courtesy to our parishioners. Always check the most recent newsletter for the most updated information. Unless otherwise noted, Margie, our Senior Director of Stewardship, is the staff contact for events below.

THANKSGIVING BASKETS
Each year at Thanksgiving, Immaculate Conception provides Thanksgiving Baskets for persons and families in our community who are in need.
Thank you to everyone, children to seniors, who donated food, helped with sorting, decorating boxes, packing the boxes, and organizing the food cards.
Thanks to your support, we provided 30 families with turkeys, hams, food cards, and enough food for at least a week. You also organized eight large bags of food, hams, and food cards for the cleaning crew.
Because of your generosity, 38 families were able to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. This effort would not have been possible without everyone’s support.
During this Thanksgiving season, may you be reminded of all there is to be grateful. Thank you for your generosity and support!

ADVENT GIVING TREE
Every year our parishioners generously donate Christmas gifts for people in need from our parish as part of our Advent Giving Tree program!
It is one of our parish’s favorite projects. We place tags on a tree in the gathering space requesting gifts for families in our parish who are in need (the same families we help with Thanksgiving food).
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time and talents for this year's Advent Giving Tree project. From generously donating gifts, to coming into the office to sort them, to signing up to help with deliveries — your support has truly made a difference. This has been such a fun and meaningful project, and a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to serve together.
Your generosity, kindness, and willingness to help ensure these gifts reach those who need them most. We could not do this without you — thank you for your generosity and your hearts for serving others!
CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT MAKING
Our parish's annual Christmas Ornament Making event has an important social justice dimension! For every ornament the children create to bring home for their Christmas Tree, they will make one to donate to Meals on Wheels - to help spread some holiday spirit. The Meals on Wheels clients are always so grateful to receive these ornaments. The children have fun while learning the importance of giving!
Thanks to everyone who made our annual Christmas Ornament Making event in Fellowship Hall such a success. We had over 95 people join us! Thank you to all the volunteers who came up with ornament ideas, brought all the needed supplies, and taught people how to make them.
A special thank-you to the Girl Scout troop and the Youth Ministry kids who joined us to help, and of course to the Knights of Columbus for serving such a delicious breakfast.
We filled two large boxes of ornaments to donate to Meals on Wheels—thanks to Paul Novak for delivering them. I know the people who receive them will truly enjoy them.

COAT DRIVE/DONATIONS
The Knights of Columbus, Council 3390 once again sponsored a coat drive/collection over the holiday season. This was their 5th year!
They collected NEW CHILDREN'S COATS, along with gently used coats too, over the weekends of November 08-09th and 15-16th. Thank you to everyone who donated coats in the labeled boxes by the exit doors in the gathering space. With the cold weather approaching there has been a real need for these warm coats. All winter coats have been donated to various charities right here in Durham by the Knights of Columbus. Thanks for your participation in this project!
