St. Francis Week 2020Saturday, October 3rd
Blessing of the Animals on the School Playground at 10 am Take-home activities for kids and adults to encourage us all to care for our common home and all of God's creation! Sunday, October 4th
Outdoor Mass: 9:30 in English ||12:00 noon in Spanish - On the playground. Racial Justice - Virtual Retreat from 2-5pm for those in the fall course on Racial Equity: Exploring Power & Privilege. Contact Casey for Details! Protect Our Common Home - A collaborative projectAs we all seek to hear anew how God is calling us, as God called Francis to “Rebuild God’s House!”
This year, as we recall the life and story of St. Francis, can we hear God's call to US in light of the Pope's message in Laudato Si and the importance of all of us working to protect our common home. We invite everyone to share their own commitment – the practice or action they want to take up – to help rebuild God’s house and care for our common home. At the Blessing of the Animals and at all Masses, we will have “bricks” to write on (or take home and then drop off ) -- we hope to collect bricks and build a shared visual of our commitments, actions and prayers to Care for our Common Home. - Members of the Respeto youth group will take the lead on creating a "parachute for the earth" for our parish community! - Our school community will participate in this as well throughout Francis Week! We look forward to journeying together as we read the signs of the times, and listen to the ways the Holy Spirit is moving us to act in courageous, faithful, creative responses! |
Celebrating our Diversity at Immaculate Conception!
During this pandemic, Immaculate Conception continues to celebrate our diversity with images from parishioners sharing their ethnic and cultural diversity in safer times!
Video series by the Franciscan Action Network
During St Francis Week, we would like to highlight the video on Care for Creation: "The world is not ours, it belongs to God. We are tasked only to tend and care for this earth that God has created. Yet, we are failing the Creator in that task. We must recognize that we are in relationship with Creation. Climate change and environmental corruption are our responsibility to address. We must have compassion for the wounded earth. We must remember our responsibility to care for Creation when we vote". -2020: A Franciscan Moment.
