Pastoral Care

Donate Now
Parish members and staff that engage in an ongoing exploration of the pastoral needs of their fellow parishioners and see that the friars and parishioners provide appropriate care to those at critical moments in their lives.
Bereavement Committee - Provide hospitality receptions after a funeral Mass. The time commitment is about two hours a few times a year. Contact chair, Julie Caruth at 919-383-0702.

Growing thru Grief - A burden shared is a burden halved: The path through grief over the loss of a loved one is difficult. Growing thru Grief offers ongoing support throughout the year. Meetings are Tuesdays, 4-6pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Teaching about the grief process is combined with sharing in small groups. Contact: email or 919-923-7310.

Homebound - Bring the Eucharist, a bulletin, and good cheer to shut-ins, either at home or in a nursing care facility. Commitment varies depending on whether it is a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly visit and length of each visit.  Contact Margie Burton, 919-682-3449 ext. 260.

Hospital Ministry - Bring the Eucharist and a comforting presence to patients at Duke Hospital. Visit a number of patients whose names and room numbers are provided. Each volunteer minister is scheduled on a day and at a time of their choosing, once every two weeks. Contact Evelyn McNary, 919-383-5895 or Kirk Wagenseller, 919-880-2648.

Personal or Family Crises - Parishioners experiencing a personal or family need should not hesitate to contact the parish office or any of the friars for assistance. Fr. Chris VanHaight, ext. 259; Fr. Mario Gomez, ext. 293.
