Religious Life
While not a sacrament, a life consecrated by the profession of poverty, chastity, and obedience and lived in community is a sign to the Church and world that our deepest human happiness is to be found in imitation of the serving life of Jesus.
Parishioners who sense a call from God to live as a member of a religious order are encouraged to visit the following web sites and to contact one of the Friars or Sister Joanna Walsh at 919-641-2476.
Holy Orders
The Sacrament of Holy Orders (“ordination”) is conferred by a bishop on those called by the church to serve as deacons, priests or bishops. Ordained ministers serve as the church as visible signs of its vocation to be a community seeking to fulfill the prayer of Jesus that “they may be one;” to be a community of those “hear the word of God and keep it,” and a community sent into their homes, schools, and places of business to “wait on table.”
