Stewardship is a spiritual concept that is about much more than money--it is about an understanding that all we have comes from God and that we have a need to share what we have with others through our time, talent, and treasure.

Do you want to know more about this concept of tithing?
What if I cannot tithe?
- Tithing is a concept found in the Old Testament. In Exodus (34:26) we read how the people were encouraged to “bring the best of the first fruits …to the house of the Lord .
- The tithe is usually considered 10% as seen in Genesis (15:20) “Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything”.
- As we come to a deeper understanding that everything we have comes to us from God, our gratitude grows. With God placed first, everything else follows from that.
- We tithe not because God needs the money, but because we have a need to give back.
- It’s our way of showing God that He reigns in our hearts.
- It’s also a pretty good indicator of where our treasure lies.
- A tithe is a common way of thanking God for His blessings. We see that our cup overflows and we want to give back.
- You should know that Immaculate Conception tithes 10% of our offertory income to outreach and Social Justice Ministries.
What if I cannot tithe?
- We are aware that this may be a new concept for you.
- We are grateful for whatever you are able to give.
- We would ask that you would prayerfully consider gradually increasing your donation.
- Remember the good steward prays about what to give and is comfortable with that decision.
Matthew Kelly in "Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic" states…
“If we are to grow in generosity it needs to be an intentional effort. Life is busy and distracting. We are pulled in so many different directions that unless we make greater generosity a priority it will not happen.”
