Charity and Justice:
  1. Love Fund: $119,000 was distributed.  Referrals from Catholic Charities, EK Center, Durham Crisis Center, Families Moving Forward, Furniture Project, Tar Heel Oxford House, St Vincent de Paul society at St. Francis of Assisi.  A total of 64 families were assisted with rent, utility expenses, emergency housing, and medical expenses.  The following organizations received assistance: Catholic Daughters for Urban Ministries $1,000, Crop Walk $3,000, and Urban Ministries $2,000.  Collections for grocery and gas cards enabled the distribution of cards totaling $6,000.
  2. Disaster Relief: $8,000 Earthquake (Syria and Turkey)

5. Multi-year efforts:
  • Solar Panels were installed in October of 2022.  Down payment for the lease was $11,000.
  • My Neighbor Ministries – from prior year donations - $11,000.
  • Affordable Housing – from prior year donations - $5,000 Habitat for Humanity repair program for repairs to homes in this part of Durham.   Durham Community Land Trust, the original partner, was unable to identify additional homeowners in this neighborhood interested in participating.
6. Tuition assistance from Immaculate Conception enables 23 students to attend Immaculata with some financial aid.

Other:
  1. Latino Food Sale raises money for the BAA and the parish.  Of the funds raised through the food sale $16,000 stayed in the parish.
  2. The parish raised $198,421 of our $216,072 goal set by the diocese for the BAA.  The Latino Food Sale raised $34,158 towards the BAA.

Facilities Repair Expenses:
The approximate spending for repairs and capital repairs was $130,000 for the parish and $400,000 for the school.  

Capital repairs:
  1. Initial phases of roof replacement for church
  2. HVAC for school:
  • Replace boiler for old part of the school.
  • Replace half of the heat pump units in the old part of the school.
     3.  Replace HVAC unit for San Damiano trailer.
