Charlie Mader: Chair Charlie and his wife June joined Immaculate Conception in 1986, after completing graduate school at Duke University. Both of their children attended ICS and Cardinal Gibbons. Charlie is especially grateful for the 9:30am Sunday Mass family experience over the years—in the gym, at “St. Maxway”, and in the Church. Following a full and rewarding career in the pharmaceutical industry, Charlie is enjoying serving on the Finance Council.
Courtney Duffy Schnee Courtney Duffy Schnee is the Senior Vice President of Asset Management for Northwood Ravin with more than 20 assets under management across the sunbelt and oversees a portfolio valued at +$3B. In 2021 she was named to Women We Admire's list of Top 100 Women in Real Estate across the US and across all sectors of real estate. Courtney holds a B.A. from Northern Illinois University in History, Political Science and Economics. Courtney and her family joined Immaculate Conceptions parish in 2015 and in 2018 she began serving with the IC Finance Council.
Suyapa Silvia
Suyapa and her family joined Immaculate Conception Church in 1991. For many years they have been involved as a family with the Interfaith Hospitality Network (now known as Families Moving Forward), preparing, serving, and sharing meals with families experiencing homelessness and difficult times. A native of Honduras, Suyapa collaborates with the Catholic Diocese in her hometown of La Ceiba, Honduras, to distribute food bags to families in need, with donations from the ICC community. Suyapa is retired from RTI International where she was director of a research program focused on the study of educational equity. Her responsibilities included management of staff and budgets. Suyapa holds a PhD in Quantitative Psychology with a minor in Statistics from The Ohio State University. She looks forward to contributing to the work of the Finance Council.
Glenn Phillips Glenn is a licensed professional engineer with over forty-five years of experience in the engineering, survey, building and development industries. Glenn and his wife Pat have lived in Durham since 1987 and have four children - all who attended Immaculata School and two who came back after college to teach and coach at Immaculata. In addition to being on the Finance Council Glenn is currently on the Board of Directors for Triangle Volleyball Club and has served on the Parish Council at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Raleigh and several committees associated with the Emily K Family Life Center.
Dan Tolomay Dan and his wife, Kim, are natives of Central New York and graduates of Saint Bonaventure University. He graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Finance and a secondary concentration in Accounting. Their family joined Immaculate Conception in 2016. They live in Durham with their two boys and Jack Russell Terrier, Milo. Dan enjoys watching college basketball - his alma mater and the Duke Blue Devils.
Professionally, Dan earned his CFA charter in 2007. He is Chief Investment Officer of Trust Company of the South where he develops investment strategy and manages client portfolios. Prior to his current role, Dan worked as a Vice President for Smith Breeden Associates in Chapel Hill and a Financial Analyst with PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
Nicole Zakowicz Nicole and her family joined Immaculate Conception in 2017. She is married to Gregory and together they have two boys who attend Immaculata Catholic School. Nicole graduated from Boston College with a B.S. in accounting and finance. She is a CPA and has spent the majority of her career working as an economic damages expert analyzing financial and business records of corporations throughout the world. Nicole also serves as the Vice President of the Home & School Association at Immaculata Catholic School.
Randy Garcia Randy previously served in the U.S. Army for 23 years and is the Senior Assistant Director of Leadership Giving at Duke University. In addition to the Finance Council, Randy serves as Chair, Immaculata Catholic School (ICS) Parent Advisory Committee and supports the Pre-Marriage Counseling ministry with his wife along with being a Eucharistic Minister at the Sunday 9:30am Mass. Randy lives in Durham with his wife Ellen, daughter Anastasia (ICS & Cardinal Gibbons alumnae), and two sons, Ryan, and Rudy who both attend ICS.
Kevin Concannon Kevin has been a parishioner at Immaculate Conception since 1993 and is married to Sue. They have two children. He trained and practiced as a veterinary anesthesiologist before founding the Veterinary Specialty Hospital with several friends. Kevin served as the hospital director for over 20 years with the hospital growing to three locations and 30 doctors. He now renovates old houses (including his own) and does electrical work as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity while pursuing a NC electrical license. He is a firm believer in the value of land conservation and natural spaces as well as the importance of spending time outdoors. Some of his favorite activities include backpacking in the Wind River range of Wyoming and kiteboarding in the OBX.
Kirk Wagenseller Kirk and wife, Jana, joined Immaculate Conception Parish in 1986. He worked for Wachovia Bank for 34 years, and when he retired in 1998, he began volunteering in the Finance Office, where he can still be found today. Kirk has concentrated mostly in auditing, reconciling bank accounts, mail deposits, and bookkeeping functions for the start-up Emily K Center, and the Durham Nativity School. He was a member of the Finance Council for 15 years and served for 3 years as Chair of the Parish Council. For many years, Kirk coordinated the Duke Hospital Eucharistic Ministry and the IC Low-income Tax Preparation program. He currently serves on the Emily K Center Finance Committee, and the Supervisory Committee for the Latino Credit Union, headquartered in Durham. In retirement Kirk has also been a member of several Durham private and civic non-profit boards and committees.
