CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH 2021
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time for communities to come together to build caring connections, supportive environments, and positive experiences for all children. We know child maltreatment is a preventable problem. All adults play a role in building the safe, stable, nurturing homes and environments needed for the healthy development of our future generation of parents, leaders, and community member. North Carolina’s future prosperity depends on it. Be a connection for NC children and families during Child Abuse Prevention Month this April! |

We must also continue to make every possible effort to prevent future transgressions." -† Luis Rafael Zarama, J.C.L., Bishop of Raleigh |
DID YOU KNOW that the Diocese of Raleigh requires that all people who work in leadership with children and youth in our parishes and schools attend a training in how to recognize and report child abuse?
The training details five steps to prevent child sexual abuse:
|
Our diocese has a code of conduct adults must follow to create safe environments and protect children.
Reading and following the code of conduct helps create a culture of protection and keeps our children safer. Access the Code of Conduct here. DID YOUR KNOW that when a person is assaulted as a child, he or she may wait years or decades to tell another person about it?
The reasons for this vary. Victims may want to deny the fact that someone they trusted could do this to them; they may want to just put the abuse behind them and move forward. They may believe that they caused the assault by their behavior; or they may fear how other people will react |
The 2021 Child Abuse Prevention Month theme is: You can be a connection for children in your community!
