FAMILIES MOVING FORWARD (FMF)
JUSTICE, PEACE, AND INTEGRITY OF CREATION (JPIC)
Families Moving Forward (FMF) is the primary agency in Durham focused on addressing the needs of families with children who are experiencing homelessness. Families Moving Forward has served almost 350 families since its formation in 2016 with the merger of Durham Interfaith Hospitality Network (DIHN) with Genesis Home. Immaculate Conception Catholic Church's JPIC has been partnering with Families Moving Forward, and DIHN before that, for 25 years. It is a critical ministry allowing parishioners to provide compassionate service and hospitality, as they witness to the human dignity of all in our community.
Families Moving Forward is a leader in Durham and throughout North Carolina in addressing the impact of homelessness on children. Its two-generation approach recognizes both individual needs as well as the needs of the family, combining interventions for parents and children to interrupt the cycle of poverty and homelessness.
All donations and volunteer support help Families Moving Forward provide life-changing interventions, skills, and opportunities for families in its emergency shelter, rapid rehousing, and aftercare programs. |

Calling all painters and gardeners! Come out and support Families Moving Forward at their 3rd Annual Rock the Block Day of Service on Saturday, May 11th! All skill levels are welcome.
Let's come together as a community to help our families and share in a day of celebration and collaboration as we help renovate and beautify the property for families who call this place home... temporarily. Projects this day will include painting, sprucing up, mulching the playground, and cleaning/organizing the facility. Rock the Block t-shirts will be available for purchase with proceeds going directly to FMF. Lunch will be generously donated by Southern Harvest Catering for all volunteers.
