Fr. Salim Joseph, O.F.M Rest in Peace
Dear Parishioners of Immaculate Conception Church,
I am sad to inform you that Fr. Salim Joseph, O.F.M., who served at our parish from 2020 to 2023, died suddenly in Boston from a heart attack. He was 56 years old.
If you would like to share any of your photos with Fr. Salim, please send them to Fabian and we will create a commemorative slide show to share them with fellow parishioners and Fr. Salim's family and honor the memory of our late brother.
The Franciscan Friars from India - Fr. Salim's home country - have created a beautiful tribute to him. Click here to access the document.
Many of Immaculate Conception parishioners remember and cherish Fr. Salim's exuberant joy fully on display whenever he baptized babies and held them up to be recognized as new members of the Church. Others remember Fr. Salim with gratitude as one who heard their confessions and offered them spiritual guidance. Every month, Fr. Salim used to visit the elderly at Forest at Duke retirement facility and celebrate the monthly Mass there. A number of our Spanish-speaking community remember with affection Fr. Salim's active participation as a co-runner in the Guadalupe Torch run. The Immaculata students, their parents, and teachers clearly recall Fr. Salim's presence at the carline. He also used to help out with the baptism preparation classes, guided the Legion of Mary, and served as a spiritual director to some of our parishioners and the candidates for the permanent deacons of the diocese.
May the soul of our brother Salim Joseph rest in peace.
