MIGRANT WORKER HYGIENE KITS
JUSTICE, PEACE, AND INTEGRITY OF CREATION (JPIC)
“Every time we sit at a table to enjoy the fruits and grain and vegetables from our good earth, remember that they come from the work of men and women and children who have been exploited for generations.”

Migrant Worker Hygiene Kits
During Lent and at various other points throughout the year, Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) organizes parish-wide collections of hygiene items for migrant farmworkers in our community.
Every spring, an estimated 150,000 farmworkers pour into North Carolina to harvest cucumbers, tobacco, apples, sweet potatoes, green peppers, and Christmas trees. At the height of the growing season, farm workers often work 12-14 hours a day in the hot sun with few breaks, and the average farmworker earns less than $11,000 a year. Would that be enough for you to feed and support your family?

During our Migrant Worker Hygiene Kit collections, parishioners can pick up a plastic bag and a list of items needed for each kit in the gathering space.
