Mike Krzyzewski – a recipient of the Saint Francis Medal from the Franciscan Province of Holy Name
Our Pastor, Fr. Jacek said the following:
“Mike Krzyzewski has been a long-standing, active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. He lives his faith in the tradition of Saint Francis of Assisi by ‘preaching the Gospel at all times; using words if necessary.’ He preaches the Gospel by the way he exercises his leadership, be that on a basketball court and in other areas of life."
800 years ago, Saint Francis Assisi rolled up his sleeves and, with a team of brothers in Christ that he had inspired, Francis began to pick up the stones in an effort to rebuild God's house, that is, the beloved community in the heart of God. In a similar way, Mike Krzyzewski has rolled up his sleeves and formed a team of highly dedicated, passionate people eager to do good, to empower, transform, and heal the local community. As friars of Holy Name Province - soon to be part of Our Lady of Guadalupe Franciscan Province - we are proud of our brother Mike Krzyzewski and how he follows Jesus Christ with two feet of love - charity and justice. In the process, he inspires our fellow parishioners, the people in North Carolina, and millions across our nation by way he uses his gifts and talents to help so many children and youth to develop their full human potential and so to give glory to God.
