Catechesis for People with Disabilities

Many persons with disabilities feel that they exist without belonging and without participating. Our concern should be not only to care for them, but also to ensure their ‘"active participation in the civil and ecclesial community." -Pope Francis, Fratelli Tutti, 98

Through our Baptism, God calls us to grow in holiness and to participate in the life of the Church. Disabled persons desire full and meaningful participation in our shared mission to be missionary disciples. It is important to ensure that they and their families experience a true sense of belonging in their parish communities and in the Body of Christ.

At Immaculate Conception Church, we welcome all people into our faith community as active members. One of the ways we participate in the life of the church is through the sacraments. For information about sacramental preparation for people with disabilities, or if you are called to help with this ministry, please contact Joel Musser.

Another way to serve this community is through the Diocese of Raleigh’s Collaborative for Special Needs and Disabilities Ministry. If you are interested in joining this group, please contact Katie Fortunato or Diego Almeida, who also speaks Spanish.
