DIRECT SERVICE
JUSTICE, PEACE, AND INTEGRITY OF CREATION (JPIC)
MISSION
Our JPIC's Direct Service ministries' mission is to heed Christ’s words: “As you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me” (Matt 25:40, NRSV, Catholic Edition). Our parishioners answer Christ’s call by serving those who need us with our own time and talents.
If you have any questions or would like to serve through our JPIC Direct Service ministries, please contact the parishioner leaders for each ministry listed below. If you have any general questions, please contact:

DIRECT SERVICE MINISTRIES
Furniture Project of Durham
Since 2012, the mission of the Furniture Project of Durham is to provide gently used, donated furniture and household items to homeless families and individuals that meet their basic physical and emotional needs so that they can feel like “their house is now a home.” Many of the families and individuals that the Furniture Ministry serves are moving from homelessness to stable housing, and others are in housing but are struggling to live without basic necessities such as beds, a kitchen table, or cookware. Parishioners collect furniture and household items and deliver these needed items to households of our neighbors who were recently homeless and into their own home. We offer our services to those in need that have already reached out to local social service agencies and have been referred to us by partner agencies, shelters, and programs that re-house and offer follow-up case management for the homeless.
- Days/Times: Deliveries are made every Saturday morning. Parishioners typically commit to one 2-hour shift each month on Saturday mornings, but any amount of help is welcome!

- Days/Times: Donations can be dropped off at the Immaculata kitchen (attached to the school) between 4:15-5 pm on the third Saturday of every month. Meals are then transported and served at Urban Ministries of Durham.
